Images Gibellina (previously Gibellina PhotoRoad) is a unique and unusual event, the first and unparalleled open air and site-specific festival in Italy, and one of the few in the world. Large-format prints, outdoor exhibitions, projections and installations, thought to dialogue with the urban space of Gibellina, town without any kind of visual and light pollution in which the vision of the exhibitions is not disturbed by the urban chaos.
The festival questions how photography can shape itself in urban space, in the public space, finding new meanings, visions and interactions with the audience. And how photography can revitalise the memory, activating the contemporary creations.
Associazione Culturale On Image was founded in 2016 with the aim of promoting innovative projects in the field of photography and visual arts. Its objective is to create participatory artistic paths revitalizing and reactivating energies particularly in peripheral areas. With CRESM (Center for Economic and Social Research for the South), this Association was awarded MIBAC’s “Creative Living Lab 2018" and successfully organized one of the main events of the “European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018”.
Images Vevey is the most important visual arts biennale in Switzerland. Every second year, the lakeside city of Vevey throws a one-of-its-kind event: the Festival Images Vevey is a true open-air museum and a highly regarded platform for Swiss and international artists. The Festival produces unseen site-specific outdoor monumental photography installations and proposes numerous indoor exhibitions. Festival Images Vevey is also an opportunity to present the winning projects of its international photography competition: the Grand Prix Images Vevey, one of Europe's most important production grants. Besides, Images Vevey runs a permanent off space called Espace Images Vevey and its own publishing/editorial project, both promoting works by upcoming talents or confirmed artists. Since 2019, Images Vevey co-produces Images Gibellina biennial in order to share its network and experience in the field of outdoor art installations and to develop the architectural and cultural potential of the uniquely inspiring city of Gibellina/Sicily.
Fondazione Orestiadi - Istituto di Alta Cultura was founded in 1992 to enhance the heritage of cultural activities expressed by the city of Gibellina starting from the rebirth, following the devastating earthquake of 1968. Founded and directed by Ludovico Corrao until 2011, the Foundation holds one of the most important contemporary art collections in Italy. The Foundation organizes the Gibellina Orestiadi Festival, an annual exhibition of contemporary theater, contemporary dance, music and visual arts, now in its 40th edition.
